Who we are

Dayclo is a digital wardrobe application available at dayclo.app, operated from the United Kingdom. Dayclo is the controller of your personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we use your data. What data we collect

When you create a Dayclo account we collect:

• Your first name and email address.
• Your password, stored securely and encrypted.
• Your age range and gender, both required at sign up, though you can select “Prefer not to say” instead of disclosing them.
• Your UK location, used to provide local weather for outfit planning, and included at city level in the aggregated wardrobe insights described below, unless you opt out using the Data insights setting.

When you use the app we collect:

• Photos of clothing items you upload.
• Item details you enter, including brand, category, colour, season, occasion, size, price paid, and notes.
• Outfit plans and packing lists you create.
• Wear logs when you record what you wore each day.
• Your saved sizing information, if you choose to add it.
• Your app preferences, such as theme and dark mode settings.
• Information about how you use the app, such as which features you use and how often. This is collected by Dayclo itself and is never shared with third party analytics companies.

How we use your data, and our legal basis for each use

UK data protection law requires us to have a legal basis for everything we do with your data. Here is each use and the basis we rely on:

To provide the Dayclo service, meaning storing your wardrobe, showing weather for outfit planning, generating your personal Insights, keeping you logged in, and sending essential account emails such as password resets.Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.

To improve Dayclo, meaning understanding how features are used so we can fix problems and build better ones.Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the service.

To produce aggregated wardrobe insights. We combine data from many users into anonymised, aggregated statistics about wardrobe trends: for example, which brands are popular, how often different categories of clothing are worn, or average cost per wear. We use these insights internally and may share them with clothing brands and retail partners, and may be paid for doing so.Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a sustainable business. Three important protections apply:

1. These insights are always aggregated across groups of users. They never identify you, and no individual user’s data, photos, or wardrobe is ever shared with anyone.
2. You can opt out at any time using the “Data insights” toggle in your Profile settings. If you opt out, your data is excluded from all aggregated insights.
3. We never sell personal data. Aggregated statistics are not personal data, and individual data is never for sale, full stop.

Cookies

Dayclo uses two types of cookies. Essential cookies are required for the app to function: they keep you logged in and maintain your session, and cannot be turned off. Analytics cookies help us understand how people use our website so we can improve it; these are optional, and you can turn them on or off at any time using the cookie banner or the “Manage preferences” link shown on our website. We do not use third party advertising or tracking cookies.

Your photos

Photos you upload are stored securely and are only visible to you. We do not share, sell, or use your photos for any purpose other than displaying them in your Dayclo wardrobe. If you choose to use the optional background removal feature, it runs on your own device; your photo is not sent to any third party for processing.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored with our hosting providers, Supabase and Vercel. Depending on infrastructure, some processing may take place outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are protected by legal safeguards approved for use under UK law, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and standard contractual clauses, which both providers support.

Children

Dayclo is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@dayclo.app and we will delete it.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct any inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time using the Delete Account option in your Profile settings.
• Receive a copy of your data. Email us at hello@dayclo.app and we will provide an export.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including opting out of aggregated insights using the toggle in your settings.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on.

To exercise any of these rights contact us at hello@dayclo.app and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113, although we’d appreciate the chance to resolve any concern with you first.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account all your personal data, photos, items, and activity is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days, including from routine backups as they cycle.

Data security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never store passwords in plain text, and access to your data is protected by database-level security rules so that only you can see your wardrobe.

Third party services

Dayclo uses the following third party services to operate:

• Supabase for database and file storage.
• Vercel for hosting and deployment.
• Resend for sending account emails such as password resets. Resend processes your email address for this purpose only.
• Open-Meteo for weather data. No personal data is shared with this service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes we will notify you by email or by a notice in the app. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last updated.
